There are times that call for you to stand up in front of your team and say “this is our bold new direction”.
However, other times call for a small group of individuals who quietly start massaging things in a new direction.
Later, when you finally stand up and say “this is our new direction” they reply “that makes a lot of sense ” or “Oh I thought that’s what we were doing anyway”.
